On November 15th, 2012, a tragic event rivaling any national disaster occurred in Midland, TX. Participants on their way to a banquet being held in their honor were struck by a train. Midland’s first responders, along with war hardened veterans, performed heroic actions to treat and save many at the scene.
We at Show of Support in Midland along with the state of Texas and the nation, mourn the loss of four American heroes. Shock doesn’t express the emotions felt at this horrible time. In the past 72 hours, uninjured participants have been delivered home to their loved ones while those who were hospitalized have family members by their sides. Americans from all over have donated the use of private jets to make this happen. Airline companies have cut all of the red tape and furnished flights to reunite families at this painful time.
Our hope is that by the end of this week, only one will remain in a hospital in Midland thanks to the herculean efforts of those who spent endless hours scheduling flights, booking hotels and seeing to whatever needs there were to make reunions possible, along with outstanding medical care. Donations of food, flights, rooms, financial assistance and time have made all of this possible and all who have helped are angels of mercy. Prayers, tears and hugs have been felt by those of us who need them.
At this time of Thanksgiving, we lift our heads to our higher power with grateful hearts for the healing, grace, and love He has given these victims. We also give thanks for the outpouring of love, the support, and the hard work of all involved to assist the Heroes of our military forces
